The importance of accessible learning
provision for people experiencing
homelessness.
Who is this course for?
Anyone working in the homelessness sector who is interested in exploring the
benefits of learning provision for those they work with.
What will we cover?
This course will challenge the perception that access to learning provision is a 'nice to have' for people experiencing homelessness. Through the testimonies of learners and staff, we will explore the range of skills and benefits learning can offer. We will also examine barriers to learning and how these can be overcome.
The course will support attendees to:
-
Explore how taking part in learning can benefit people in areas such as organisation and planning, managing emotions and communicating their feelings and experiences.
-
Discuss how learning spaces can offer opportunities to heal from trauma and exercise agency and control.
-
Identify barriers to learning faced by people experiencing homelessness and how these can be overcome.
